About Grantham & District Hospital UTC
Grantham and District Hospital Urgent Treatment Centre is a 24-hour NHS urgent care service at 101 Manthorpe Road, run by United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The UTC opened in October 2023, replacing the former limited-hours A&E service and restoring round-the-clock urgent care for Grantham and surrounding communities. It treats urgent but non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries in adults and children, including sprains, suspected broken limbs, minor burns and scalds, bites and stings, eye problems, feverish illness and emergency contraception. Diagnostic imaging is available, although patients may occasionally be asked to return for X-ray. The centre accepts walk-in patients and NHS 111 bookable appointments. It is a UTC, not an A&E. Current Grantham UTC waiting times are sourced from the NHS WaitLess live feed.
Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
An Urgent Treatment Centre is for conditions that need same-day assessment but are not life-threatening, such as sprains, suspected minor fractures, minor burns, wounds, bites, eye problems and feverish illness. Grantham and District Hospital UTC is open 24 hours a day and offers walk-in care plus appointments through NHS 111. The service replaced Grantham's former A&E and does not provide full emergency-department care. For chest pain, suspected stroke, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness or another life-threatening emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.

Wait times at any single site can swing materially within a day, depending on staffing, ambulance arrivals and how full the wider hospital is. The nearest-alternatives section above lists the closest comparable sites, each with their own current wait — that side-by-side comparison is more useful than any single-site average.
For non-life-threatening issues, residents in Grantham and surrounding Midlands may also have access to a Minor Injuries Unit or Urgent Treatment Centre with shorter waits for less serious conditions. NHS 111 can confirm the appropriate service for your specific need before you travel.
