Terms of service
The terms on which A&E Wait Time is made available to you. Please read these alongside our privacy policy and medical disclaimer.
In short
A&E Wait Time is a free, independent UK information site that aggregates publicly available NHS A&E waiting-time data. It is provided “as is” for general information only. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for clinical judgement. We do our best to be accurate but we cannot guarantee any individual figure is current.
By using aewaittime.co.uk, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.
Acceptance of these terms
These terms form a binding agreement between you (the visitor) and the founder of A&E Wait Time (referred to as “we”, “us” or “our”) the moment you access any page on aewaittime.co.uk. We may update these terms from time to time (see §13) and will indicate the latest review date at the top of this page.
Who we are
A&E Wait Time is an independent UK website operated by the founder, with no affiliation to the NHS, NHS England, NHS Scotland, NHS Wales, HSC Northern Ireland or any individual NHS Trust or Integrated Care Board. See our about page for the full ownership and independence statement.
What this site is
An aggregator of public NHS data. We surface waiting-time figures collected from publicly available NHS Trust web pages.
A signposting tool. Every figure links back to its primary public source so you can verify it yourself.
An editorial product. Hospital, region and guide pages are written or edited by our editorial team using public information.
Free to read. There is no paywall, no subscription, no required sign-up. The site is supported by the founder.
No medical advice
Reliance on any information on this site is strictly at your own risk. See our standalone medical disclaimer for the full position.
Accuracy of wait times
We make significant effort to label every figure honestly — with a freshness badge that reflects the publication time of the underlying NHS source, not the time we fetched it. Despite this:
Figures may be out of date. NHS Trusts refresh their public waiting-time pages on different cadences. We can only be as current as the source itself.
Figures may be wrong. Source data can contain errors. Our pipeline can contain bugs. If you spot an issue please email us — see our editorial policy § corrections.
Wait times are averages, not your wait. Your individual experience at A&E will depend on triage category, time of day, current demand and many other factors we do not see.
Figures must never delay emergency care. Do not use {SITE.name} to choose a hospital in a life-threatening emergency. Call 999.
For full transparency on sources and limitations, see our methodology.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
Misuse the site. No attempts to disrupt service, evade rate-limits, scrape at industrial scale, or exploit security flaws. Responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities is welcome — please email us first.
Misrepresent us. You may not use the {SITE.name} name, logo or content to imply endorsement, partnership or affiliation that does not exist.
Republish at scale. You may not systematically copy, frame or republish substantial portions of the site as your own product.
Use the site for emergency triage. {SITE.name} must not be used as a basis for clinical decisions or as a triage tool for any individual patient.
Intellectual property
The original editorial content on A&E Wait Time (text, layout, design, code, images we have created) is the copyright of the founder, all rights reserved, except where a different licence is explicitly stated on the page.
The underlying NHS waiting-time data we surface remains the property of the individual NHS Trusts that publish it. Where we display that data we do so under the relevant Open Government Licence or equivalent reuse terms, attributed to the publishing trust on the page itself.
You are welcome to link to A&E Wait Time from your own site and to quote short excerpts with attribution. For larger reuse, please email us.
Third-party links & data
A&E Wait Time contains links to third-party websites — primarily NHS Trust web pages. We provide these links to help you verify our sources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices of any third-party site.
Third-party content remains subject to its own terms of use.
Site availability
We aim for high uptime but cannot guarantee that aewaittime.co.uk will be available without interruption. We may take the site offline for maintenance, upgrades, or because an upstream NHS source has changed and we need to fix our pipeline. We will not be liable for any loss arising from unavailability.
Liability
A&E Wait Time is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
No warranty. We make no warranties or representations about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability or fitness for any particular purpose of the information on the site.
No liability for indirect loss. We will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, incidental or punitive damages arising out of your use of the site.
No liability for clinical decisions. We will not be liable for any decision taken or not taken on the basis of information presented on the site, including any decision about when, where or whether to seek medical care.
Cap on direct liability. Where direct liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the site is limited to GBP 100.
Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable UK law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
If you are using the site as a consumer in the UK, your statutory rights are unaffected by these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We re-review them every 90 days at minimum and whenever there is a material change to the site. The revised terms take effect when posted. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim — subject to your statutory consumer rights to bring a claim in your local courts.
