About Westmorland General Hospital
Westmorland General Hospital is a community hospital on Burton Road in Kendal, Cumbria, operated by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB). It is the trust's elective and urgent (non-emergency) site, alongside the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital which provide the trust's 24/7 Emergency Departments. The on-site Urgent Treatment Centre is open 8am-11pm every day of the year, with on-site X-ray 9am-8pm and on-call cover overnight, and treats minor illnesses and injuries including sprains, suspected simple fractures, cuts, minor burns and skin problems. Westmorland also hosts the Helme Chase midwife-led maternity unit (24/7 for uncomplicated pregnancies), elective surgery, day-case surgery, outpatient clinics and diagnostic imaging.
